What is Packaging Directive (94/62/EEC)?
Nowadays, environmental protection has become one of the most concerned issues by many industries. Major European countries and America have imposed environmental regulations on various products and materials. In European Community (EC), the most influential directive for packaging materials is Packaging Directive 94/62/EEC. It covers all types of packaging placed on the marketplace and all forms of packaging waste, with intention to provide a high level of environmental protection.
Apart from concerning about recycle, reuse and recovery, EC member states that the total concentration levels of following substance in packaging or packaging components should not exceed 100ppm by weight.
